Registration for knowledge worker

If you are moving to Goes or another municipality in Zeeland as a non-EU skilled worker and will be staying for more than 4 months, please register at the municipality of Goes within 5 days of your arrival for the 'one-stop-shop.' You can make an appointment, where you will be assisted in a single visit with your registration in the BRP, your appointment with the IND, and information about living, working, and settling in the Netherlands, provided by Expat Center Zeeland.

We can register you as a non-EU expat if:

  1. your employer is a recognized sponsor. Recognition by the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) means your employer is authorized to apply for a residence permit on your behalf.
  2. you hold a residence permit with one of the following purposes of stay: 
  • highly skilled migrant
  • researcher under Directive (EU) 2016/801
  • international startup
  • self-employed entrepreneur

Family members moving with you

If you can be registered as a knowledge worker, we can also register your accompanying partner and/or children. Please make a separate appointment for each family member.

What to bring

  • An original and valid passport
  • Proof of accommodation:
  • A rental or purchase agreement, or written permission (including a copy of the passport or ID card of the main resident) if you will be staying with someone else
  • A birth certificate if you were not born in the Netherlands
  • Proof from the IND confirming your lawful residence in the Netherlands
  • A relocation notice if you are moving from Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, or Saba

Special Circumstances During Your Stay Abroad

If any of the following events occurred during your stay abroad, you must provide the corresponding documentation:

  • Marriage: marriage certificate
  • Divorce: divorce certificate 
  • Death of a partner or child: death certificate 
  • Birth of a child: birth certificate and, if applicable, a certificate of acknowledgment

Document Translation

If the required documents are not in Dutch, English, German, or French, they must be translated by a sworn translator. Official documents from abroad must be legalized or have an apostille for use in the Netherlands whenever possible.
